Job Summary

Reporting to and under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Director of Career Services, the Student Success and Career Administrative Coordinator initiates, coordinates, and implements a variety of administrative duties in support of the administrative operations for the instructional and program needs of the Career Center. The incumbent serves as the central resource person to students, faculty, and staff, and the community; often makes recommendations related to operational and policy matters and evaluates work procedures; coordinates and executes large scale, complex projects with broad, visible impact which may involve overseeing coordination with other departments. Work involves identifying needs, planning projects, coordinating and seeing a project through completion, implementation and evaluation. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university.

Key Qualifications

This position requires a high school diploma or technical/vocational program degree and a minimum of two years administrative work experience involving program administration and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development of improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Some college or a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills, including thorough mastery of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling are required. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, LoboConnect, and PeopleSoft preferred.

Salary and Benefits

This is a full time, temporary, non-exempt position. Step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience. Step placement upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,367 a month (step 1). The CSU Classification Step Range for this position is $4,367 - $6,362 per month (step 1 - step 20). Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.

This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
